about me
My name is Elias S Tilavgi. I was born in Nicosia, Cyprus. I work as a systems engineer in Hellenic Technical Enterprises http://www.hte.com.cy
I been an amateur photographer for some time now and especially after my son Stylianos was born. My passion to photography lead me to create this page and share my views of this world taking photos that would speak louder than words. I hope you enjoy my photos and share your thoughs about my pictures or you can just judge my photos thus helping me to improve my photography knowledge and skills.
I usually focus on landscape, macro and still life photography. I love portraiture photography although I find it the most difficult subject to shoot since expressions in time are hard to timestamp on a paper or a picture.
You can view my photo projects in the portfolio page. Thank you.
Comments on my photos
A striking different image of Santorini with the usual emphasis being on the striking architectural styling of that location. I like the toning of the image the clouding which works to bring a sense of depth to the image, and the inclusion of the sun ready to drop below the horizon line.
Thanks Jan (Santorini I - Summer 2006)
I like the line of Mount Athos and the sea gulls following the fishers who just recovered the nets and awaiting fishing discards from them.
Sorry, no sails on this kind of boat, just a powerful engine, heavy nets, fishers and fishes...:)
Thanks Pietro ( Sailing Away - Mount Athos)
Elias, your photo brings a wonderful softness. Though it was captured in the summer it almost feels as if a gentle snow covers the town. Great job. Thanks Mark (Santorini Ia II - Summer 2006)
This is from my hometown in Cyprus, Larnaca
A beautiful 18th century aqueduct which was built in 1745 in the Roman style to carry water from a source about 6 miles south of Larnaca into the town to provide Larnaca with water. It surfaces in a gully along the highway to Limassol and was still in use until 1930 supplying water to the city of Larnaka.
There are more than 20 arches still intact, remnants of others can be found to the south of the town
